You may notice helicopter, or "washing" type noises moving around in your head. These sounds are actually created inside your head, and are not coming directly out of either channel from the sound board. It is this noise that is doing the work of helping your brainwaves get synchronized to the patterns you have chosen. When two different (but similar in frequency ranges) brainwave files are mixed together, some have noticed a jet airplane noise moving slowly from left to right in the background. Some people don't hear these artifacts at all, while others hear them extremely well.

Loosen any tight clothing, remove shoes, glasses, contact lenses etc. The idea is to eliminate as much bodily sensation as possible to avoid distraction. If your goal is lucid dreaming or visualization you should listen to the tapes when your not extremely tired or you will probably just fall asleep.

Listening - You must use stereo headphones preferably ones that cover the entire ear. Volume should be loud enough to block external noise. Generally it will take about 5 minutes for brain waves to synchronize with the binaural beat. The length of time it takes to synchronize will decrease with continued use.

Most people find it best to just blank their mind not giving attention to any particular thing. Many use the technique of imagining a blank blackboard filling their entire vision and focus on this in order to eliminate distracting everyday thoughts.

Another technique is to start at your toes and tighten an relax each muscle group working up to the head.

Soon thoughts and images of a different type will begin to emerge. Quite often as you hover between your normal consciousness and an altered state certain thoughts and concepts will seem to be make complete sense one moment and then be beyond the grasp of your comprehension the next. This is where with practice you can become skilled at riding the fence between super and normal consciousness.

Results - Results will very between users. The effect is very subtle at first, the more dramatic effects sometimes do not occur until the 5th or 6th session. Results also depend on your frame of mind, time of day and your ability to relax and let go. Certain Nootropics, herbs, and cognitive enhancing nutrients can improve results.
